Örnsköldsvik Contact Network
The Örnsköldsvik Contact Network Facebook group is a private initiative that aims to make it easier for people to find new friends. It’s a page where you can post things you are thinking of doing and invite other members of the group to join you. It could be anything from a walk in the woods to a game of “brännboll”.

In Örnsköldsvik we have chosen not to provide a resettlement allowance.

Moving notification
When you move, you need to send a moving notification to the Swedish Tax Agency so that the correct address is recorded for you in the population register. This is free of charge and you can do it quickly and easily using the e-service. If you move in order to study at university or college, you must be registered in the population register where you are studying. If you move in order to study at compulsory school or upper secondary school, on the other hand, you must be registered in the population register at your parents’ address. The general rule is that you must be registered in the population register where you live, in other words where you sleep most nights.

Home insurance
Whether you rent an apartment as a tenant or subtenant, are a lodger, live in student accommodation or in your own house, you need home insurance. If there are several of you sharing an apartment/house, enter everyone’s names so that the insurance applies to you all. Home insurance usually covers fire, burglary, assault, legal expenses and travel.

Applying for housing benefit
If you need to apply for housing benefit, contact the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

Population register
The population register determines which municipality you pay tax in and where you can vote. By law, you must register where you live. Read more about population registration on the Swedish Tax Agency’s website.
